i think this scenario is fantasy. why? the technical competence of
ts5 will have to jump a quantum leap to provide the electronic
interaction you describe. i don't believe it will happen under
current management.
plus, given the relative incompetence (note all the
cubs/tops/globex/etc down notes on this list) and illiquidty (compare
a e-zb chart with outcry-us) of the e-markets, i think open outcry
will be with us for some time to come. the only e-trading scenario
that might have merit in the immediate future is one where you can
shoot your orders directly into the pit via a pit trader's hand held
device. that's available now on a limited basis. but i think that
totally electronic markets will more resemble nasdaq level 2, a very
nasty alternative to the pits from from i've heard.
i don't believe that the electronic trading nirvana you're promoting
is viable under current technology and internet infrastructure. may
be when we can access internet2 and get 1000mhz dsp chips for our
trading boxes.

Here's another option: TS 5.0 will integrate completely and
seamlessly with the web. The path will be Signal/DBC to TS 5.0 to Zap
Futures to electronic execution system (pits will be gone) back to TS
5.0.
