Let's face it: the only electronic trading platform that has proofen it's
reliability even in markets trading up to 800 thousands of contracts per day
is the DTB/Eurex system. CME's Globex II is in fact the french NSC system,
which has failed recently at the Matif itself. In my opinion the CBOT has
made a wise decision to join the Eurex system for electronic trading
beginning sommer next year.
My favorite scenario: a merger of CME/CBOT, discarding Globex/II and the
ability to trade all contracts of both exchanges over the new Eurex/CBOT
system. With the announcement to trade even the softs (cocoa, coffe etc.) at
the CBOT, only the energy-complex would be missing to have one reliable
electronic trading platform for all major future-markets.
Just dreaming? We will see ...
