Hi folks,
Win98 allows automatic shutting down of the hard disk after it has not been in
use for a certain period of time of your choice. I guess it saves on the wear
and tear when the hard disk is not spinning, and saves power for lap top
users.
My question is: Will the now more frequent turning on and turning off of the
hard disk (let's say several times a day) as oppose to leaving the hard disk
spinning 24 hours a day, be better or worse for the PC (not lap top)?
Or should this be a question for the hard disk manufacturers? (But there are
so many brands.)
PC user,
William
