The answer is NO! Economists try to use variables to predict the economy, and
then use economic variables to predict the stock market, and are very seldom
successful, because the two are related, but not linked.
Academics try to find theories to explain something so that it can be taught
over and over again,
thus keeping them employed. One thing academics don't like is constant change.
I work with economists and live with an academic.
