>>What a f**king SCAM!!!<<
Before we form a posse, let's think about this a minute...
In general, ... one might argue that demo code containing exepted dated was
designed to merely "summarize" the behavior of some system for sale. And that
it was not intended to be the real thing. well...someone might argue that! :)
A more legitimate defense might be that the excluded dates were specific Wall
Street calendar days (triple-witching days, GEO report, etc.) that the user
manual said to not trade.
The first lesson here is that if you receive a demo disk from a vendor, ask:
"Is this system/function a future time-limited version of the exact system it
is demonstrating? In other words, if the time limitation was to be removed
from this demo, would it then become the complete system/function you are
selling?"
If the answer is yes, write it down, date it and keep it. If tests reveal it
has specific historical date exclusions that are not repeatable in the future
(either as directed in code or in the user manual or in any other medium you
receive), THEN you have good reason to be concerned.
So how does the Sherriff's example stack up? It appears the excluded periods
(eg, (D>=820421 and D<820714)) are too large to be calendar specific events.
And there appears to be no formula for generating exclusions into the future.
Ergo, the author has some explaining to do.
Now, is the author *really* Mr. Shadmi, or was this code that someone else
wrote and Allon is (or was) simply and blindly promoting/selling? I don't
know. Anyone want to call him and ask?
