Alexander,
I have used TS4.0 under NT4 (service pack 2) and Win 95 (Rev B). Under NT,
Tradestation was extremely stable. I could leave it running for days and
it worked flawlessly. Occasionally, I'd get a GP in the Downloader.
I switched to Win95 because I was told by someone that I gave way to much
credit to, that TS was optimized for Win95 and that it would run better.
Nothing could be further from the truth. I get server GP's on average
every other day and I certainly can't leave it running for days on end
simply because of the way Win95 handles (or doesn't) memory management.
My reccomendation is that NT is little more advanced then Win95 but worth
the effort. Don't worry about the lack optimization, it's not noticeable
to me (milliseconds difference) if there is a difference. Win95 is good
but NT is more stable.
I'm going back to NT as soon as get the chance. NT is a good operating
system for the PC and, most likely, the operating system of the future.
Good Luck,
Brian.

Alexander,
Don't take this as gospel or anything, but I think a major portion of
your problem may be the "Windows NT 4.0"!
Unfortunately we "all" get suckered into thinking the "latest &
greatest" operating system is what's best for us, however in this
case, it isn't so....
If you are only using this computer to trade with... you would be
better off using Win95, due to the simple fact that it will process
the 16-bit code in the TS 4.0 much better than the WinNT will.
It has something to do with NT 4.0 has to "emulate" a 16-bit
environment or something like that!
Not to mention the fact that Win95 will handle the hardware issues a
lot better than NT 4.0 ever will.
Hope that helps a little, maybe someone else can elaborate a little
more, OK!
Happy Trading.... when you get back up & running anyway!
