This was more of an empirical observation than a quantitative comparison. I happened one day to be sitting
at a desk using a laptop with a 12.1" TFT screen, and also on the desk was a 14" CRT monitor. The actual
image on both looked about the same size to me, so I grabbed a measuring tape and took a quick diagonal
on both, and they were the same within a 1/2 inch. But the LCD image was noticeably brighter, sharper,
and totally free of distortion, of course. I found the LCD image preferable.
I have never seen a 15" LCD monitor, but I suspect the image would be more comparable to a 17" CRT than
to a 15".
