Re: LCD flat screen displays

I was amazed to read that any 12.1" LCD has about the same viewable area as
a regular 14" monitor! Is this 2" differential typical of LCD monitors? I
know nothing about LCD displays but I'd love to have to replace my 17" with
an LCD for reasons of weight and bulk. Given this differential a 14-15" LCD
would be comparable to 17" monitor. I guess I don't understand why the LCD
marketing folks would put themselves at a size disadvantage for the same
viewing area.

They also sell a 12.1" LCD monitor, but only 800x600 res., for $1320. This
has about the same viewable
area as a regular 14" monitor
