Go to Radio Shack. Buy an inexpensive cassette recorder (mine's a
Minisette - 9 Model 14-812; superceded, I am sure) with two inputs
(mine has a MIC and a REM, whatever the latter is) and a little
gizmo called a Telephone Recording Control (mine's the single line
model 43-228A) that connects the phone to the recorder. When switched
in one position, it starts recording when the phone is picked up.
When switched to the other position, it allows you to play back the
tape. If the tape recorder is not in the record mode, nothing
happens. The gizmo costs about $15 for the one line model and $25 for
the two line model. Works fine.
