Item 1 may not work if you are using The Downloader - it doesn't
update duplicate data.
A third choice is this:

You can reference your text list of symbols with the above MetaStock
plug-in, which can then be used in explorations, system tests, etc.
This symbols list is stored as a text file and is not volatile. You
can use as many symbols lists as you wish.
