Try this test.
Click on any visible file eg
Nasdaq100.sym
Rename it to
Nasdaq101.sym

Don't copy it. Just rename it.

Is that renamed file visible?

If the answer is yes, the issue is what is happening when you copy.

  Dusant,

I can see that the file is correctly named when I look in:
C:\Program Files\Equis\The DownLoader

As a test, I copied Nasdaq100.sym (which appears in the "Type"
dropdown) to Nasdaq100_02.sym

I then closed and re-opened the DownLoader. The renamed file does
not appear in the "Type" list.

In summary, anything I create manually does not appear in the list.

Alan

    Alan,
I think that your file would have been renamed as xxx.sym.txt

because of the windows nature of hiding the extensions of known file
types. You have two alternatives.

    1) open the file again, and save it as "xxx.sym" taking care that

  you use the quotation marks.

    2) use the DOS prompt, and rename the xxx.sym.txt as xxx.sym.

That should do the trick.

Subject: [EquisMetaStock Group] New Symbol Database file doesn't

  appear in list

I created an ASCII file containing a list of symbols. The file

  does

not appear in the "Type" dropdown in the Symbol Database.

Here's what I did:

1) Ensure Downloader is closed.
2) In Notepad, created the list of symbols, separated by

  carriage

      returns.
3) Save as .TXT
4) Rename to .SYM
5) Move to C:\Program Files\Equis\The Downloader
6) Open the Symbol Database. No new file.

Please advise,
Alan
