Thank you.

Subject: [Metastockusers] JO and Postings--A message to Friends and Family
I rejoined the group for today in order to clarify a few things and
to thank the members who sent me the nice emails, including the
members who asked me a 100 more questions before I stopped answering
emails.
I may have a solution to the problems Im having with posting and
answering the emails. It will save me a lot of time, allow me to
share information, and make it easy for all of you to access it.
First of all, I'm not relinquishing my postings due to perceived
conflicts with the king of SHILL hunting, Jay. After a word to Jay, I
will explain what is going on and how I think I can solve it for
those who have any interest in whatever I find that looks useful..
"Jay, I'm guessing you're a nice guy-maybe a little obsessed with
hunting down what you perceive as evil-but nice. Of course that is a
guess! Sometimes you're even positive and knowledgeable, which I
enjoy taking advantage of. "
"Yes, Jay, I do get tired of the SHILL references, and I also think
that all that does is diminish your credibility. However, it's your
credibility to do with as you wish."
By the way, Jay, if you think I'm wrong about the credibility issue,
maybe some of the members of the site would be willing to provide
their comments in a polite way that resembles useful feedback. If
people think I'm a SHILL and Jay has rooted out a source of evil,
well let's hear it. If you think Jay's approach is less than helpful,
same thing. Let's hear it. You still haven't answered my question.
Did you ask for that refund?
I admit some of the ranting and vitriolic comments bother me, not
because they're opposed to what I am saying, but because they might
discourage some of the newer users from trying a product that would
help them.
When a product has a money back guarantee, each person should simply
try it for themselves. A couple of people have said recently that ICE
is one of their best plug-ins. As I've said so many times, at least
half of stuff I've bought for MS has gone back because it did not
work for me
Aside from that issue, the reason I'm don't want to answer email and
do postings is because of the time factor. There are only so many
hours in the day. I get a number of emails asking for help. It's
really impossible to help everyone. When I politely decline to help
teach someone how to trade, or build a system, or whatever, I usually
get a nasty email back telling me how selfish I am, or screw me, or
worse. Sure I get tired of that. Real tired of it. I would like to
tell them what I think, but I was raised with manners.
Unfortunately, email anonymity gives people license to say things
that they never would say to you if they were sitting in front of
you. I don't believe in that approach. I don't say things on this
board or in emails I wouldn't tell you if you were talking directly
to me.
As far as the postings go, most people would never believe how much
time goes into those. Once a posting is up, this creates more
questions, which is a reasonable expectation, and one I don't object
to. But I get asked the same questions over and over. People don't go
back and search the archives. For example, I've been asked what books
I've read, what's the BEST trading book I've ever read, if a person
could only read three books which three should they read, and it goes
on.
I've been very lucky in life, and I've always been willing to share
whatever I had that might help someone else. Doing that is very
disappointing many times because very, very few people listen. They
want advice that's quick, easy, free and that they like. If it meets
all of these criteria, they might, and I mean might, follow the
advice. Well, advice rarely meets such a list; so few people ever do
anything useful with anything you've told them. They want success but
they don't want to do what it takes, including listen.
The only return on investment I get from my time is to see people use
something I've told them for good purposes. That's rare.
I would like to continue to share what I know, read or found without
it being such a huge time drain. I think I can do that by writing
various things in a longer format and posting the writing with the
references, formulas and other stuff in the files section, if the
moderator will let me. Then anyone who wants to read whatever I've
contributed can go there and find it. That way I only have to post
whatever once.
However, I guess I need to use disclaimers. While I do read 25 or
more trading books a year, I do not now know, or will ever know, what
the best 3 trading books are. I surely do not know which one is the
best one for you to read. I will write a little review about each
book and then you pick.
Jay, I didn't write books: I don't own the publishing company that
printed the book; I am not personal friends with the author; I am not
being paid for my book reviews, and I don't move my lips when I read.
Get it!
Whenever I post a file I will post a note saying there's a file and
telling you what's in it. If you feel like reading it, fine. If not
fine!
However, I will not answer questions or respond to emails. I would
like to, but I don't have the time. It's amazing how many emails some
people send me just to ask one question. I really hear from some fine
people from all over the world. How lucky do I feel-totally blessed.
I wish I had the time to personally write each one a book telling
them whatever I know that might make their lives better in some small
way----but I can't.
If you have questions you can post them, and someone else on the
board will answer them for you. That's support.
Please don't tell me "you just want to pick my brain." Another name
for a brain picker is a vulcher. I used to hear that a dozen times a
day when I was speaking around the country. Let me translate-- I'll
buy you a cheap lunch so I can get 1000s of dollars of information
from you for free! Wow, aren't I smart. No, a vulcher is hardly
smart. My brain is not here for picking, it's here to help me make
good choices in life, and if you pick it, it might not work anymore.
While I'm whinning--I correspond with Roy a few times a week. We
exchange information. His information is more useful than mine.
(While I know he can speak for himself) As you all know, he's a kind,
generous and humble person. Do any of you have any idea how much mail
he receives in a day? It's got to wear him out sometimes. He gets
huffy email too. Can you imagine? Roy's manners make mine look crude.
No one should ever say an unkind word to him, or slight him in
anyway, because he gives so much and asks so little. Some people
thank him, but many don't. Shame on you, if you're one of those who
eat and run.
If any of you think what I'm saying is arrogant-great. You can learn
from arrogant people, especially ones that have been successful.
Arrogant people who have failed can't teach you much except how to be
an arrogant failure. Skip that class!
If enough people express interest in having me share in this manner,
this is what I will do. If the majority of people are not interested
I won't waste my time.
How simple can it get?
There is one more thing I would like. There are too many lurkers on
the MS sites. I get emails or read an occasional post from them
that's wonderful. Where have you been? What's all this crap about not
having anything to contribute? If you believe what you have told me
that you like what I post and it's valuable---okay help me out. Let
hear from you.
There are too many questions by people who want to know elementary
stuff that's in the manual or on the help screen. Read the book, use
the help menu or call technical support. I don't think this site
should be a substitute for Pring's how to use MS CDs. Buy the CDs
and use them. I did.
Many really good questions get posted. A lot of good information gets
exchanged.
I am working on the Systems Tester problem. I've read a number of
posts saying 7.2 is better. Okay, how is it better? Saying you get
results from 7.2 you trust but not from 8.01 is BS. Give us the
facts, not a vague opinion. I've had problems with 8.01 also. I have
no idea if my problems are the same as yours. I don't know what yours
are. I'm trying to find out what's wrong, and I'm going to do that.
Does it have bugs-no doubt-should those bugs be causing the kind of
problems I'm seeing-no way.
I think by next week I'll have some ideas on what's going on. I've
asked some long time MS users and some former Equis employees if
they've seen any problems and they said no. That was a dead end. But
I've got other sources of information I should have put together by
next week. I'll let you know if I find anything. I hope so. I use the
systems tester all the time. I hope I don't have to start over.
Okay, this is long, I know. If the support is in favor of what I'm
suggesting post your support. If you are not in favor that is good
too, share it. You will be doing me a favor.
