Drstutz,
All templates - custom or otherwise - are stored in the Charts subfolder of
your Metastock folder, so you can just copy the folder to your backup
device, or you can make sure its included in the items to be backed up when
you use a backup program (e.g. Windows Backup, or any program that came with
your tape backup, etc.) However, with CD-RWs & hard disks so cheap, my
backup strategy is:
- periodic backup to a CD-RW using Indicator Builder/Organizer... as Dusant
explained
- backup the whole Equis folder, not just the Charts or Metastock
subfolders, to a 2nd hard disk (I do this twice a week). To do this, you can
use Windows Explorer to simply drag and copy the Equis folder to your
destination drive, or the built in Windows Backup, or, like me, a freeware
(voluntary donation) program called No-Hands Backup, which you can get from
http://hem.spray.se/anders.peterson. It basically clones your folder, amd I
run it twice a week using Windows scheduler to copy important folders to a
2nd hard disk. Another backup program you may like is Freebyte Backup, from
www.freebyte.com, though I much prefer NHB.
Hope this helps.

Dusant,
Thanks for your good post. How do you back up custom templates?

Specifically pertaining to MS.
Use the formula builder, click on the organiser button, select export,
and select all your custom formulae, experts, explorations to a
separate subdirectory. Then save it on a R/W CD. Every time you add a
new element, do the export duty again, and backup.
This way you do not lose any of your custom elements of MS.
