Each new release has additional features that may or may not be useful to
you.

The biggest improvement IMO with 7.0 was the ability to use external
formulas (dll's), and for this reason alone it was a worthwhile upgrade for
many. Programs like TradeSim, used for sophisticated multiple issue
back-testing, can't interface with earlier versions. There are any number of
dll's in circulation that allow MS to perform a myriad of tasks that would
otherwise be impossible, or at the least, very difficult. Some are free and
some are not.

Each new release of MS has performance enhancements that improve things like
the speed of explorations. The ability to "batch" a number of explorations
is also very useful.

Additional so-called "Power Systems" were released with 7.20, and these
systems may provide useful building blocks for your own systems. Some MFL
functions had slight syntax changes with this release also. As and example,
RSI(14) became RSI(C,14). There have also been changes in charting features
such as the ability to assign different colours to a multiple signal
indicator.

I understand that the System Tester in 8.01 is a major improvement over the
old System Tester (the 8.0 System Tester was bug ridden and did not really
deliver on its promise). If back-testing multiple issues is your thing then
8.01 could be very useful, although 7.22 with TradeSim would probably be
better. 'Trade Equity' offers a "no cost" multiple issue back-testing option
with 6.52 although it is painfully slow partly because of the slow
exploration speed.

I have not yet felt compelled to move up from 7.03 but I have no regrets
about leaving 6.52 behind.
