[Metastockusers] longs or shorts or both

Hello, 

In general should a system developer assume that the market moves up 
the same way as it moves down and therefore developer the same 
summetrical formula for both longs&shorts or would it be more pro to 
have a separate formula for longs and shorts, propably separate 
actually. But why? Shouldent the pattern be the same each way.

Whats the best indicator to distinquish between trend and support-
resistance? I want to change oscillator setting according to this.
