One aspect of the discussion about Windows is the proportion of real time MS
users - I would be interested to know the proportion.

My experience since installing MS r/t with eSignal is that the demands on
the system are very high and the system is very sensitive to any failures,
with a knock on affect on the user! I would be surprised if offline users
are under similar pressure and doubt there are any r/t users not preoccupied
with Windows aspects which may crucially affect the reliability of the
system.
