Answer: Windows was never incidental to the operation of Metastock. Windows
is, however, incidental (as in, "of less significance") to MetaStock as a
discussion topic within this forum (IMO, of course). Apologies for the
ambiguity.

Also, if you go back and check the original post on video card memory,
you'll read that issue was not about how video memory effects Metastock, but
purely the merits of a 16MB card compared to another 32MB card. As I said,
this question and many others could have been asked in any general graphics
card forum, and the answer would be just as applicable. (Once again,
apologies to the author for using his post as an example - there are many
others).

So, I totally agree, if its directly relevant, go for it!
