I am not affiliated with MS in anyway
(ask my wife : she knows ;) )
and only a user
which had very big problems in W95 , less in W98 and
very few in W2K (related to W2K OS) during the last 3 months in which i
intensively worked with W2K.
i work with a lot of programs (i try and download much)
but until now i cannot think of one essential program for me that doesnot
work with W2K.
( i still have W98 in a partition)
Yes i had a few big problems with drivers
( CDRW : had to upgrade firmware, 3 software upgrades, ASPI layer ; scanner
problem and nic problems
and yes that toke a lot of time but that doesnot take any
thing out of the stability of W2K : it is crashable on demand (and as you
probably do not know that is
the only good mark of a prof OS ;) )
(CTR scrolllock (x2) after a register tweak.
( BTW after this crash NO godforsaken Scandisk
(which NEVER EVER worked , W2K has no scandisk
(no bigger frustration than Scandisk)
defragmentation has to be excuted more often in W2K
And i have sudden reboots (black screen and W2K reboots then and starts and
works if nothing happened : so no problem in W2K after this sort of crash
!!!)
But again it has a stability W98 only can dream of.
If i could find a driver for my PCMCIA card for W2K
i would have a W2K network and deleted W98 for sure
now i have a W98 - W2K homelan which works fine.
so : take the big jump after a good planning and you will
agree with me : W2K is something very different and
and New Technology (and this time no marketing blabla from Little Weak)
In fact before i tried W2K i said to my self : ok MS this
is absolutely the last (3 !!!) chance : if this W2K-OS doesnot
work as a stable OS : I dump all my PCs and buy a typewriter or try Linux
for a second time (very stable
but difficult at that time and too little apps)
