I don't think you can short in an IRA.  IRA's are not allowed to use margin
and I believe shorting is considered "borrowing".  I could be wrong.  I just
know that I had to get "margin" approved in order to short at Schwab, Datek,
and Etrade.  Options should be a different matter so put-buying would be a
valid option.

We're looking for a brokerage firm that will let us go short in our IRA
accounts.  I seem to remember seeing posts here about that topic.  We may
want to do some options as well (both puts and calls).
