<DIV><FONT size=2></FONT></FONT><FONT size=2> </DIV></DIV></FONT>
<DIV>Good post, Nicholas. Straighten things out for once and for always.</DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV>> a) % free just prior to loading MetaStock.<BR>> <BR>> b) % free
after all charts are loaded, and/or<BR>> when you start paging through your
charts,<BR>> how low this number drops to.<BR>> </DIV>
<DIV>> Tentatively, if (a) >= 60%, I'm able to open, and page through, my
most<BR>> complicated multi-page 'Layout.'<BR></DIV>
<DIV>Yep, same here.</DIV>
<DIV><BR>> If (b) falls to below around 5%, either while bringing up Layout,
or while<BR>> paging through it (each and every time you hit that Ctrl-tab
takes up a bit<BR>> more precious %), the 'Low System Resources' error
message will start to<BR>> appear in MetaStock.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>This "below 5%" I don't follow.......................eg, in a Layout
:</DIV>
<DIV>1) TAB will switch between the available "objects" in the
Active Chart</DIV>
<DIV>2) CTRL+TAB will have user switch between the available Charts</DIV>
<DIV>NEITHER 1 or 2 will use up ANY vital System Resources</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>3) CTRL+Arrow(s) will use up (SwapFile) Virtual MEM on local disk for
resources<BR>ALSO this option thus will NOT use up ANY vital System
Resources.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Conclusion:</DIV>
<DIV>If you have frequent times that your System Rescources fall below
35-40%</DIV>
<DIV>(which is the minimum FREE value required for a PC to still function in a
stable mannor)</DIV>
<DIV>then the conclusion can be made that you are having severe hardware
or</DIV>
<DIV>hardware settings/configuration and possibly drivers problems.</DIV>
<DIV>IF YOU GET AS LOW AS 5% then your PC is ripe for the Intensive Care.</DIV>
<DIV>thus GO AND SEE A PC DOCTER. </DIV>
<DIV>====================================================</DIV>
<DIV>Test Results :"Survey - How much vital Resources does MSK uses"</DIV>

Messages while running MetaStock<BR>> <BR>> I created a shortcut on my
QuickStart Bar at the bottom of my screen for the<BR>> 'System Information'
applet, so that it was super accessible. Upon bringing<BR>> it up, the
first info screen you'll see includes '% System Resources Free.'<BR>>
<BR>> After a fresh boot, the '% System Resources Free' for my
hardware/software<BR>> configuration shows a value of 77%.<BR>> <BR>>
Then, with any software activity, loading, unloading, **anything**, the
%<BR>> steadily decreases over time.<BR>> <BR>> With regard to
MetaStock, and 'Low System Resources' messages suddenly<BR>> appearing, there
seem to be two threshold numbers of interest:<BR>> <BR>> a) % free just
prior to loading MetaStock.<BR>> <BR>> b) % free after all charts are
loaded, and/or<BR>> when you start paging through your charts,<BR>> how
low this number drops to.<BR>> <BR>> Tentatively, if (a) >= 60%, I'm

hit that Ctrl-tab takes up a bit<BR>> more precious %), the 'Low System
Resources' error message will start to<BR>> appear in MetaStock.<BR>>
<BR>> If (b) falls to 1%, system starts falling apart, and that's the last
chance<BR>> to exit MetaStock before total freeze up.<BR>> <BR>> Even
after quitting **every** program running, '% System Resources Free'<BR>>
still will remain relatively low. In order to bring % back up to
healthy<BR>> levels, one must reboot the computer.<BR>> <BR>> These
have been my recent experiences that I wanted to share.<BR>> <BR>> Any
comments appreciated.<BR>> <BR>> Nicholas</DIV></BODY></HTML>
