Merging securities (in MSK) means "to replace"
one security, or one or more security's records, for (an)other(s).
Thus you are right here, this replacing takes place between just
two security's MSK Data Files.
But Convert does this too, in a slightly more "workaround way", eg
-it does so sometimes in a very handy, and not often thought off-
very neat way, eg you will not have to end up having duplicate records,
when keeping destination AND source or vice versa Old AND New, when
also directly deleting (easy accessable in f.e. the ASCII file) certain
date periods or period(s) of date ranges.
A Composite is only an 'artificial security', eg it is only the link file (like a
shortcut, thus not the actual physical data files) between two(2) security's
MSK data files.
Spreadsheet in my man is on p.73 and merge on p.80. That's the man
received with v6.0 (copyright 1985-1996) and this, as I've never received
a new one with the 6.5 upgrade (think only 4 or 5 very minor items had
changed or were added then, not enough to produce a new man).
Ofcourse (it works). Good one, Zvi. Its been added.
{and its actualy a spin off of the "Keep source" records......
but now to a Folder's "from starters empty" new security}
