Paula,

I have used Excel source for the conversion. YOu need to make sure that it
is Excel 4.0 , or else MS does not recognize it. Also, I don't believe that
it will take a single Excel file and give you multiple symbol targets. It
has never worked for me. See the attached file for a sample source Excel
file format. Let me know if it helps,

David

Subject: Importing symbols using ASCII

Good afternoon everyone:
At the risk of revealling my stupidity I am turning to the list
for help after trying everything else.
My dilemma is this: I would like to import a list of symbols
compiled in EXCEL into a Metasock data folder. As I understand it if the
symbol does not exist already MS will ask me if I want to create one. This
is assuming the convert utility can read my import file.
I tried to dummy up the data file as follows and save it in comma
delimited text (which I assume to be *.prn.)
           (ticker,per,date,close,vol)
           ABGX,D,2/12/00,135.00,10000
I have about 300 symbols to which i assigned the same data(just so
the symbol is read). No matter what format I save the Excel file in the
convert can't see the file.
If anyone has any input I'd appreciated it. Any answers privately
or to the list are welcome.
Thanks a bunch,
Paula Petersen
