that the Internet and Telecom Equipment sectors were the two strongest sectors
for the moment.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>The have good
representation in the Internet Sector with AOL, which is a pure Internet play
and CSCO and SCH, which both have strong ties to the Internet.<SPAN
style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>However, I don’t have any Telecom
Equipment stocks and I’d like to add one.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes">
</SPAN>However, before I can do that I have to free up cash by closing one of my
existing positions.</DIV>
<P class=MsoNormal><SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes">
</SPAN>The question is, has one of my existing stocks performed poorly enough
that I should close it in favor of a Telecom Equipment stock?<SPAN
style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>I think the answer is yes, PPE hasn’t
performed that well and the gaming sector is cooling off.<SPAN
style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>PPE has moved sideways for a month and
is now right at the bottom of its Short Term Up Trend Channel (STUTC).<SPAN
style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>On the other hand, I’d hate to replace
it now and then watch it bounce off the bottom of the channel and take off.<SPAN
style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>I think the answer is to wait in the
wings with my Telecom Equipment stock selection – Pairgain Technologies
(PAIR).<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>The idea is to replace PPE
with PAIR when, and if, PPE does drop through the bottom of its STUTC.<SPAN
style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>That should happen in the next few days
if we don’t get an up move.</P>
<P class=MsoNormal><SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes">
</SPAN>PAIR at 13.19 is in a STUTC with the top at 16 1/8 and the bottom at 11
½.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>It set an all time high of 43 ¼
on 1/23/97 then went into a multiyear down trend to a bottom of 6 on
10/7/98.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>From there it climbed
slowly and finally broke out of the Long Term Down Trend Channel in late April
of this year.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>After that break out,
it fell back to the bottom of the Intermediate Term Up Trend Channel (ITUTC)
formed from the 10/7/98 low and set another low of 8 on 8/10/99.<SPAN
style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>I formed the current STUTC from that low
to a September high.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>It just fell
back into the bottom half of that STUTC Friday and looks like it is at a good
entry point for a stock in a strong industry group.<SPAN
style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>The long term Tema StochRSI has been
positive for over a month and the short term Tema StochRSI just turned
positive.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>The fundamentals are OK
with the price/sales a little high at 4.18, the debt/equity low at 0.01, and the
5 yr av. Revenue growth at 35%, and the 5 yr. av. EPS growth at 22%.<SPAN
style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN></P>
