RE: Automate Downloader?

You gave me the answer, Robert.
   No reason to not "combine your BB stocks and mutual funds into one file";
a simple copy *.csv both.csv should do it.
Means I will have to put 'both' into a single directory, but that seems
workable.
I assume that the two Excel files are identical [1 for archiving].

Thanks,
Bob

Hi Bob,

Automating the downloader has, for me, been pretty straightforward using
Macro Scheduler (http://www.mjtnet.com). I'm sure you could do it with
almost any automation program, although I don't know anything about WinBat.

I collect my quote with StockBrowser (http://www.xs4all.nl/~ithiel) and
them manipulate them a bit in Excel (all of which is automated). Excel's
output is 2 files. One file is named "Daily Quotes.csv" and the other is
named "Daily Quotes 19990604.csv" (for example).

The automation program then runs The Downloader and selects
"Tools/Convert..." (using keystrokes). The Convert dialog always remembers
to look for "Daily Quotes.csv" and the destination folder is the highest
folder containing data (i.e. C:\EQUIS\DATA\). The "Options" are set to
traverse destination folders. That's it.

The next day, the process is repeated with Excel now saving a new "Daily
Quotes.csv" file and a new file named "Daily Quotes 19990605.csv" (for
example).

In your case, you could either:
1) combine your BB stocks and mutual funds into one file using Excel, or
2) have your automation program could rename the BB stock file to "Daily
Quotes.csv" and run The Downloader, and then rename the mutual fund file to
"Daily Quotes.csv" and run The Downloader

As far as QuoteMonster goes, I can't help you there. But I'm sure
something like Macro Scheduler (or WinBatch or, maybe, WinBat) could
automate QM.

Hope this describes the sort of thing you're looking for.

Rob
