Re: stock list by industry

I use the AAII database which has some 300 parameters per stock for
evaluating stocks fundamentally. This is the way I select which stocks that
are of higher quality in earnings, etc. Then I group these stocks and use
IRL to derive a index on each group. This approach in my opinion filters out
the weak ones and improves the performance of each index. The indices can
then be compared with each other and the standard indices such as S&P 500
etc. Then one can further select the stronger groups to individually select
particular stocks which appear attractive for buying through technical
analysis.

In the filtering of stocks for fundamentals for instance I like these
criteria: increasing continuos earnings for each of the past three years,
current ratio less than two, long term debt less than 30%, inside investors
holding between 5 and 39% of the outstanding shares and probably that are
priced more than 8-10$ per share. Actually I use several combinations of
filters but the above illustrates the complexity which one can achieve with
the above program. For more detail or discussion please respond.
