Lionel,
It can be done as long as you aren't changing operating systems.
Basically, you xcopy all your files from the old drive to the new drive
over a direct cable connection. The new drive must not be configured as
the boot drive since Windows can't be running on the new drive during the
xcopy. You must also use the 32 bit xcopy version. After the files are
copied you configure the new drive as the boot drive.
We have some procedures written down around here for doing this which I'll
try to find. We recommend reinstalling from scratch, however, to get rid
of unused .dll, .ini, and registry files. Otherwise, you will have all the
junk from the old installation.

I am moving to a faster computer. Both computers use Win98. The hard drive
configuration is different on the computers.
What is the easiest or best way to transfer programs from the old to the new
computer?
Some programs were downloaded from the web, so I have no disks or CDs; other
programs have been modified (patches, additional functionality etc) so that
the original CD no longer fully represents the what I have on my computer
I have set up a direct cable connection, this works for data, but not so
well with programs. I have used CleanSweep to transfer a few programs, but
the process is slow and doesn't always work if there are several programs in
the folder.
Any suggestions?
