We are probably taking up too much space on QP2 and other discussion should
take place elsewhere. but your answer:

Virtual files contain no real data; instead they provide a
MetaStock-compatible interface to the database. Although they appear just
like "real" Metastock® files to your applications, virtual files require
only a fraction of the hard disk space and are much faster to create. If you
were to export the entire  database to Metastock® -compatible files, you
would require well over 600 megabytes of hard disk space. Using the virtual
interface, you need only about 2 megabytes.
