You are right...

oh well, at some point in the future we'll be able to share setups in real-time and do all the other things. Distributed system-trading, for retail traders, will be routine at some point ;-)

have a great day,

When time is of the essence, I don't believe that 'email' is the answer.  Many times I receive emails, minutes, hours, and even days after they were sent.

Nothing complicated. Simply that if you have a group of traders trading the same system it can help prevent errors when action can be coordinated. In complicated systems confirmation can prevent mistakes. This can also be useful when traders use different data sources - often screens and signals vary with data source. In Intraday trading such coordination must be fast - a few seconds can make a difference. But even in slower systems trade confirmation can be useful.

Taking this a bit further, when larger sums are traded, trade coordination can prevent pulling the market.

In an extreme application remote trading could be employed to give traders more freedom. The system would only place trades if there is a majority consensus. A trader could take a short break while his system tracks the others ;-)

Being able to share signals and trades in real time could also be used to distribute processing. It might be faster to run three different lengthy processes oat three locations, and share results in real-time, than have each user run three lengthy processes.

It could benefit traders who formed a corporation.

etc. etc. It just seems to me that the time is ripe for this new capability :-)

Now, whether "email" would be the right tool to use is another question...
