I have used the MS plugin for years and it works
great for me so I have a few questions:
Is the MS plugin in the AmiBroker/Plugins
folder?
In FILE>DATABASE SETTINGS do you have Data
Source: MetaStock data plug-in selected ?
Local Data Storage:
Disabled ?
Number of bars :
5000 (doesn't have to be this exact number)
Base time interval:
End-of day ?
In CONFIGURE :
Do the external MetaStock data
files show up with the correct path to them ?
Using Windows, look inside the MS data
folders.
Is there one file named MASTER
within each and every folder ?
Is there one file named EMASTER
within each and every folder ?
What program are you using to update the data files
within the folders?
Any other downloader other than MS Downloader might
not be creating and saving files in true MS format.
TJ has crippled the part of the
plugin which reads the ticker name to 16 characters (out of 45
possible) for those who use data providers which supply
data in some screwy, sort-of, 'MetaStock
format'.

Subject: [amibroker] Re: Metastock
external EOD update & Amibroker MS plugin
Thanks Bill
I have all all the paths to the native MSData folders
(all 28 of them) loaded into the MS plugin (under "Configure") & the
database Folder is pointing to the AB folder C:\Program
Files\Amibroker\MSData but the plugin is not updating the the AB
datbase as I see it which I assume is used as a cache for fast access.
Which does not quite make sense to me as I have the "local data storage:"
disabled - but as the notes suggest it is created and has to be there the
way the program is written and should be updated from the Metastock folder
via the plugin.
The data that is shown on the charts was updated
manually using the "File > Import Metastock Data ..." up to and
including 12/2/09. The Metastock Folder have been updated to 13/2/09 but
the plugin is not pulling that in - so I suspect that its not working for
some reason and just loading the AB database which seems to be
static.
Any further suggestion will be appreciated. Thanks
Ed
