Well you don't always have a choice. I use one 21"
(1600x1200) monitor and a 17" (1024x1280 rotated 90 degrees)
side by side.

But you can still set things up right after some
experimentation.

Joseph is right - as I mentioned earlier - watch for any 3rd
party programs
that affect normal operation of Windows. nView is part of
this as it has an option
to force windows to open in positions stored internally by
nView.
I always turn nView OFF.
