Brian,
While I appreciate your contributions to UKB, with this sentence:
> - what Tomasz is supplying, for free, at the UKB is very basic and
> better hosting packages can be purchased elsewhere, for a small fee,
> and he won't have to do any admin
you are showing zero knowledge about web hosting.
I am sorry to say that, but you are completely missing the point.
UKB is based on Wordpress, which is blogging platform.
It has *nothing* to do with hosting packages.
Hosting packages typically consists of web server software (usually Apache),
database backend (mySQL), scripting languages (PHP, pearl, Python),
control panel (CPanel), root admin tools (Virtuozzo Panel, WHM), etc, etc.
And all amibroker sites actually use ALL these services. They are pretty much standard,
but they have more or less nothing to do with publishing per se.
Wordpress completely different subject. It is open-source blogging platform
that sits ON TOP of (i.e. utilising) basic services like apache, mysql, php.
Publishing platform is one layer above basic hosting services mentioned above.
My advice for you - wannabe web owner - is to spend a while reading/asking questions on webhostingtalk.com
Best regards,
Tomasz Janeczko
