Hi Grant --

Thanks for the kind words.

I, too, am very experienced in the computer world.  I walked around inside the first computer I worked on, and worked on one that had a tank of mercury in which sound waves were used to store short term information.  In later life I was professor of computer science and university dean.

In my opinion, Tomasz has done a marvelous job of taking the best features of the procedural languages, such as C, and the trading system development platforms which include primitives specific to trading and financial data -- buy, sell, open, close, and so forth.  The array implementation is both unique and extremely powerful.

Also in my opinion, no one will be able to develop profitable trading systems without designing them him or herself, programming them him or herself, and validating them him or herself.   No one will knowingly give away (or sell inexpensively) a profitable system.  And, every profitable system will eventually lose its profit edge and probably never recover it.  Ongoing development is essential.

I am experienced in TradeStation, MetaStock, and many other platforms, and I have written one myself.  AmiBroker is as good as it gets.

I have sympathy for people new to AmiBroker, or even new to programming, developing their first trading systems.  The learning curve can feel very steep.  But there is no other way.  Reads the documentation.  Download and study the examples from the library.

Thanks for listening,
Howard

I've been working throo' the code in Howard's QTS book and have been amazed at the clarity of the
code and the amount of "bang" one can get with little code using array syntax. It's taken me a while
to get my head around the array thing (I've made many departures into loop code) but for simplicity
it's just the best. Don't be sorry, be determined to work it out :)
