[amibroker] Re: Gann Squares

Gann literature.

As there is a not a lot of interest within the group I will keep it
brief.

Apologies to Gannists for being a five minute expert.

Ganns own material is difficult to read and ranges from the expected
and objective (money management, support/resistance) to the unexpected
and abstract (planetary influences and time cycles).
The range of time cycles he uses is mind spinning to the un-initiated.

He seems to have had a touch of Nostradamus about him with interpreters
reading a lot into his writings or ending up with him evoking a quasi-
religious fervour in them.

The best place to start is *How To Make Profits Trading in Commodities*
in which he explains his non-Astrological methods (important price
patterns, MM etc).
It was written near the end of his life and re-edited 10 years later so
presumably it was the best shot in his locker.

He is one of those people that requires rifling through the rubbish and
reading the personal letters to find out what he was really up to.

Three interpreters.

All have been around trading for a while and devoted a lot of time to
Gann studies.

With the first two there is barely a planet in site and they *focus* on
geometric methods, presumably based on Gann's work.

Robert Krausz, *WD Gann Treasure Discovered*.
Based on propriety software indicators - a version of Ganns swing
trading(?) and including Gann Fan lines for resistance/support.
Interviewed by Scwhager in one of the Market Wizard books.
Good charts and explanations.

Gerald Marisch, * The WD Gann Method of Trading*.
A futures trader who has written a simplified how to do it manual for
newer traders - uses Gann retracements, Pivots and fans.

Patrick Mikula, *Gann Scientific Methods Unvieled - Vol 1 & 2*
>From the other side of the fence, Mr Mikula does the Dan Brown thing
and cracks the Astrological code in Ganns written work, complete with
Hexagons, Square of Nines and Astrological charts.
A measured and researched expose(?) of Gann with a lot of examples.

Summary?

After reading all of Gann plus the interpreters you will still be left
wondering about something.
Maybe you won't even get to the bottom of Gann fans.
