One or more of the several changes I made (increased
bar number, unchecked "Use optimized routine for intraday data retrieval")
seemed to work as data is now showing up inside AB.
Inuitively it seems like the "Use optimized routine for
intraday data retrieval" should be checked, so I have now rechecked it. After
watching for a few minutes, AB seems to be gathering the data even with the
check. Go figure?

Rik: I have had the green box saying OK from the very
start, even when it wasn't plotting. I think the number of bars was a
blockage, in spite of what Graham experienced with FIFO data
storage.
Are
you getting the little green box in the lower right on the status bar telling
you that AB is connected to the QT server?
