Hi Barry,
I don't think there is any "workspace" any more as it used to be. Just
select View > Symbols to bring up the window, then dock it to the left side.
After that, you can select other windows and add them as tabs using new
drag-drop GUI. Feel free to ask if you should run into any trouble dragging
things around.
