Hello Dingo,
I don't have anything against it.
AB is my preferred trading software and AQ is my preferred
downloader for getting Yahoo data or similar into AB.
The reason I prefer AQ to do that is it is a one touch import.
I prefer that to having to download/import via ASCII or MS format.
I am an even bigger fan now that AQ takes some of the funamentals as
well.
Alan (a new user to Ami) asked about the pros and cons of QP versus
Yahoo.
As I new a little about it and needed to learn it better for myself
I have been doing some homework and putting up the pros and cons on
the site to maybe save anyone who is interested some time.
I question the ins and outs of all the tools that I use.
That's my essential nature.
I posted the competitors to AQ as I don't believe in imposing my
biases on others and also users can see that AQ is relatively good
value and offers multiproviders cf one provider downloads offered by
the others.
I also think that the forums shouldn't just be a shrine to AB.
It is good to have healthy and open debate and to hear contrary
views.
I openly critique AB/AQ because I want to canvass for the best ideas
and spur Tomazs on to write them into the program.
I do use Yahoo data myself for certain tasks and intend to register
AQ for the downloads.
I am not questioning the accuracy of AQ, I am querying whether
inexperienced users could create holes in their data by mistake and
then blame AQ for doing it.
I was just going to post a follow up to my previous comments that
includes a file showing that holes in data can be created by
manually downloading.
It is just a warning to new users to be careful.
Brian.
P.S
I am very respectful of Tomaz'z personal efforts to help users and I
can see how busy he is.
I am very busy myself but as I benefit from the forums I
occasionally do my bit to help new users as far as I can, with my
limited computer and AB experience.
I can't do it very often but I feel I should at least put in what I
take out.
If questions are answered in the forums it is one less for Tomazs or
support to have to deal with.
I am still on my AB/AQ training wheels so when I do put my best
understanding out there I benefit when others come in and correct my
errors or top-up my ideas, in fact I am always hopeful that they
will.
