Hello,
Almost all 32 bit programs run just perfecly fine in Windows
64 bit. Windows 64 bit has WOW64 mechanism that provides 32 bit
"environment"
for all 32-bit applications so they don't need to be modified
at all. I have lots of legacy 32 bit applications (Macromedia stuff, Visual
studio, MS office)
and they work all fine in 64-bit Windows.
The only thing you should take care about are drivers, but
most recent hardware already has 64 bit drivers either built in into
Windows
(network cards, USB memory sticks) or coming from hardware
manufacturers (NVidia offers 64- bit drivers for ALL its graphic
cards
and all recent motherboard chipsets, the same with ATI - it
offers 64-bit drivers for all recent graphic cards), if you have machine
with
Athlon 64 it must be recent and you won't have any problems
with getting 64 bit drivers.
If in doubt, list your hardware in detail (all cards
and chipset)

Subject: [amibroker] 64 Bit
Hello All,
I have Win XP Home SP2 XP 32 bit and AMD Athlon
64. If I switch to XP Professional 64 will this just install
over the 32 bit without problems? Have I got to go to the trouble of
partitioning and taking data over? Then reinstalling my software
?Further, what about drivers? I assume that some of my software will not
open without driver upgrading.
I do not want to be left behind future developments.
If the above is too difficult I would hope the 32 bit will be developed in
unison with the 54 bit.
Any Comments?
Thanks, Ross
