I should expand on this a bit, perhaps.
What I have found, is not always that the ticker bar window itself is
blank -- that behavior actually seems to vary when I move the ticker
bar to the Standard toolbar.
What is constant, however -- at least for me -- is that the drop-down
list in the ticker bar only offers the symbols of the database that
was open at the time the ticker bar was moved to the Standard
toolbar. Of this, I have no doubt. I have done, and undone, and
redone this several times. I get completely normal operation when
the ticker bar is moved back to the ticker bar toolbar, and I am
prevented from seeing any tickers other than those in the database
which was loaded at the time I changed, when I move the ticker bar to
the Standard bar. This may be a superset of the actual tickers in
the (newly loaded) database, or it may be a subset.
I did not wish to cause undue alarm, and I realize many users have
different configurations. But I was alarmed myself when it comes to
database issues. I have pristine backups of course; but they will in
due course be overwritten, so I am not sure what to do here (rollback
or not).
