Hi. I read several very favorable reviews regarding Amibroker so I
downloaded the Trial and must admit that initially I was very
impressed. Until.... well, let me first say that I have a eSignal
feed which works fine with TS2k & Metastock. On installing Amibroker,
it defaults to intraday bars which update perfectly in realtime. Try
switching to Daily, Weekly or Monthly data and well, problems! Daily
will display about 2 bars while Weekly etc. tells me that there is not
enough data to plot a chart. Clearly, Amibroker is not downloading
the revelant data via eSignal. Why? If I use Amiquote to download
EOD data and 'Auto-update Amibroker Database', voila! daily data is
suddenly displayed. Try switching back to intraday and you end up
with this 'mix' of intraday/daily being displayed. Switch again to
Daily and it no longer there.... This is infurating. I have spent
hours trying different in 'Database Settings'& 'Preferences' to no
avail. And yes, I have seen the settings referring to 'Mixing daily/
intraday data' but 'playing' with this doesn't seems to make any
difference. Try Backtesting the data (supposedly) downloaded via
eSignal and you get no trades at all. Download via Amiquote and
Backtest and the expected Trades are there. Life is too short for
this... Please tell me that I'm doing something really moronic and
there is a simple solution for this. Anyone!!! :)
