Yes, they are quite similar in size, although not in population.
But "makes no sense" makes no sense, actually.
However, if you want to cede California to us, we will probably
decline. We have enough earthquakes already, thank you. And I don't
think many Californians would be able to read a ballot here. Besides,
we already de facto own Waikiki, which has a better climate. ^^_^^
As I said, it comes down to the point at which you pray to some
ideal, or recognize (or deny) that almost everything is shades of
gray. Capitalist economic theory is fantastic, when not taken to
excess, and when some allowance is made for exceptions. But, like
fertilizer, a concentrated, unadulterated dose, simply stinks, and
ruins the garden.
