There is one area of charting, centered
moving average (arguably the only way to go) studies (e.g.,
Hurst channels/cycles, Sigma bands, etc.) that does lend itself to a
mathematical approach, and a limited number of services sell charts and/or
programs. Definitely not a trivial exercise (I can attest to that) but the
results are quite useful. So that "nut" has been cracked and I suspect
someday that someone will produce an open code, and there is even a website
for "wannabe" Hurst/Sigma programmers. I don't think it is that
hard, but it will take some effort. Definitely a challenge for the
mathematically inclined.
