<SPAN
class=898332218-18082003>hi jayson. regardless of the default number of bars on
a chart, you can't show or backtest further back than the number of bars you
have set for this database, right?
<SPAN
class=898332218-18082003>
<SPAN
class=898332218-18082003>for instance, if my db prefs are set to 1000 bars, and
I backtest using 'all quotations', trades start in '99, about 3 years (1000
bars) ago. the whole 3 year range may not be shown on the chart, but even if I
choose View: Zoom: All, I still only get those 3 years/1000 bars.
<SPAN

<SPAN
class=898332218-18082003>this makes sense to me. regardless of what's available
in your database, AB loads only the number of bars in prefs, and that's the most
you can see or test with. by increasing that pref, you can load more bars into
memory, then show or test with it if you want.
<SPAN

<SPAN
class=898332218-18082003>I was just wondering if there was a way to load all
data available for one security into memory, without having to change the db
pref and change it back again later, and without the side effect of loading all
data for any other securities you look at too.
<SPAN

<SPAN
class=898332218-18082003>it appears there's not, no biggie.
thanks,

keep
in mind that there is a setting in prefs/charting that sets the default number
of bars shown on a chart. under file/database you can set the number of bars
that ab loads. In AA you can easily choose the the range of dates to run tests
or explorations on. The settings in Pref and database are across your entire
database the settings in AA can be limited to a single stock or watch list of
stocks...
