I have the Nexland turbo800pro. I replaced a D-Link router with it once I
was able to get DSL service.
The Nexland allows you to plug in 2 WAN connections and has the following
capabilities:
- load balances the two WAN connections, effectively doubling the throughput
- automatically switches from one WAN connection to the other if one
connection goes down
- has a dial backup, effectively giving you triple redundancy. You need an
external modem for this, but the router comes with a null modem cable to
allow it.
Having said all this, I seldom find that I need the load balancing - even
with multiple real time data feeds on during the day. I have DSL and a
cable modem attached.
If you decide to purchase it, make sure that the vendor knows the difference
between the Pro800turbo and the pro800. The turbo model has the two WAN
ports, the pro800 does not. Some vendors have the listing wrong - How do I
know, I got caught in this when I first purchased it :(
