You ask why people complain like this.
Please allow me comment as an outsider who is very interested in
amibroker. I am reading this list to learn a bit about it while I look for
time in my schedule to do a trial.
It seemed clear to me that the complaints and questions were simply those
of a someone who was struggling with learning a new product. It is
sometimes possible to get on the wrong track with new software and get lost
in the details.
Because of his newness, simple mistakes were made and relatively direct
answers made no sense. Frustration resulted -leading to a higher posting
frequency and a higher request for hand holding than might have otherwise
been the case. The new user probably needed to step back, write a simple
request for help on one item and work from there (easy for me to say in
hindsight).
As an outsider, I did not get the feeling that he was particularly trashing
the product, only struggling with learning it. My suggestion would be to
take one thing at a time, then move on. Read the help files carefully,
then ask. Recognize that it is difficult to have a powerful product without
complexity.
I found the response by Tomasz Janeczko to be mostly very patient,
incredibly timely, and in a word amazing. From reading the list for a week
or so, it appears that the product is very powerful and evolving
quickly. The support is top notch, (even a novice gets answers from the
author!). I am looking forward to learning more about it and trying it out
before long.
Back to lurking for now.
Best Regards,
Craig
