A week ago, Monday, January 11, my father was admitted to the hospital for
acute rhenal failure. The next morning they moved him to ICU because he had
the precurosors of a heart attack. Further diagnosis indicated he had a
blockage in his LAD artery and would need a stent placed into the artery.
While treating him with blood thinners to prepare him for the stent surgery he
began to bleed internally. The doctors took him off the blood thinners and
performed an endoscopy on Thursday morning. The doctor found two ulcers in my
father's stomach but was only able to treat one. On Friday afternoon, the
doctor's performed an arteriogram and were able to resolve the second
  ulcer.
In addition to the two precedures, my father underwent dialysis
on Thursday, Friday and Saturday to help his kidneys process all the "crap"
(the actual term used by one doctor). No dialysis on Sunday and today. And the
doctors think there is a high probability he will not need dialysis in the
  near future.
Today he is doing well, or as well as can be expected. A
little cranky, but the doctors and nurses say that is a sign he is recovering.
Menatlly, he is the strongest I have seen him in a while. He needs to get some
of his physical strength back; so he may go to a rehab facility for a little
while. Currently, the plan is to strengthen him over the next two days and
perform the stent surgery on Thursday or Friday.
Needless to say, the
past week has been emotionally taxing on all of us. My father asked me to post
something to you to let you know why he hasn't issued anything recently and
won't be sending anything out over the next week. I probably have given you
too much detail, but figured many of you would want to know.
I am
  checking his emails for him.
Regards,
Lindsey Lee
