Like all things in life, this too will pass.
Those that have the money will make a killing in real estate. If you don't
have a lot of money, but you have good enough credit, you too may make a
killing. The time to buy is when there is blood in the streets and the
blood is starting flow freely at this time. This might not be the bottom,
but catching tops and bottoms is an impossible thing to do. A credit
worthy borrower is at a premium right now. Banks with real estate owned
can be bargained with as real estate owned reduces their ability to loan and
increases the liquidity reserve requirements. With market prices below
loan amounts in many situations there is a bargaining point.
One persons disaster is another persons
opportunity. This is a site not only for stocks and futures, but a
location where the making of money is supposed to be a consideration. If
inflation is a factor to be considered than housing prices have to eventually
rise because replacement costs will continue to rise. In that case one
wouldn't want to own REITs because if there is inflation then interest rates
will rise and the returns on these instruments will have to rise therefore their
prices will have to drop unless they have the ability to raise income and their
dividend.
Sometime logic is the first step in looking for the
next opportunity. If the above logic is correct what stocks and futures
will benefit from the condition and which will be affected with a detrimental
effect. This is a starting point not an end all. The charts will
tell all. There are now indexes for housing prices in various areas of the
country and using these charts one could determine the proper time to enter a
market. Charts are charts and a system is a system so it should work in
any market that they are applied to.
