It sure felt that way. Your
observation made me curious what the numbers were so I looked it up, just in
case anyone else is curious.
Max unemployment rate was December 1982 at
10.8%
The Oct. 19, 1987 Dow stats were:
Open: 2164
High: 2164
Low: 1678
Close: 1739
The Tuesday through Tuesday range
(10/13/1987 thru 10/20/1987) was a high 10/13 of 2528 to a low 10/20 of
1616. A 912 point drop or 36%. A 36% drop from our recent Dow
high would put the Dow at 9086 last seen during August 2003.

sorry, I had a typo on that last mail when I wrote:
" On October the 19th 1987 the stock market dropped from 2500 to an
interday low of under 1000"
It was 1800, not 1000. .. the rest, I believe, is accurate
