You are probably right. All my stuff shows
the past and now.
I even at times use a stop and reverse, because I
have no idea what will happen next.
I don't think I have seen any indictaors that
actually predict.
Do you mean they predict what will happen? Or
project what may happen? Which is not a prediction at all.
Kind of like those charts you see with hundreds of
lines.
Yes one will hit once in a while.

Subject: [RT] Prediction or Not?
<SPAN

All,

Certain indicators do certainly predict and <FONT face=Arial

>Clyde<FONT

to post many examples of this where he shows potential price paths in the
future. However, most canned technical indicators dont predict or anticipate
anything. They only tell you what happened in the past, what you already know.
Stochastics, %R, Bollinger Bands all fall into this category. They look back
in time not forward. Its my opinion that this is the reason it is so
difficult to build a successful mechanical system with this category of
indicators. On the other hand, some indicators do anticipate or predict, such
as breakouts, support/resistance, pitchforks. This topic has a lot of
potential if we can keep the emotions in check.
