I use IB for options, however my trades are generally very deep in money SPX
options where the b/a size is 1. The reporting time is not what I am
accustomed to in the emini and with stocks. I no longer leave GTC orders due
to the cancellation fee. If I'm not going to be watching the computer, I
leave a day limit order. Otherwise, I set a price alert on the ask and
prepare a market order to buy. When the alarm goes off, I send in a market
order. Believe it or not, about 50% of the time my market orders are filled
better than the ask.
Generally, my experience with smart routing has been favorable ... at or
better than the spread I see on my screen.
