Yes it is cheaper, but consider this
scenario.
You experience issues with a trading software. You call
the vendor. They ask what the problem is and then what OS you are using. You
tell them that you are using 'Lindows'. The tech support rep puts you on hold
while he gets his laughter under control and then comes back on the line fully
prepared to feed you b.s. for the rest of the call, and to get you off of the
line as quickly as possible so that he can run off to tell his buddies about
it.
This post is not intended to be disrespectful of any OS or
the choices of any consumer, it is a reflection of the reality of working in a
MSFT-centric world. Many software companies will likely tell you that they will
simply not support such an OS platform in any way or offer you no assistance of
use. Many companies cannot even offer useful support for Macs.
If you think that a 'Lindows' system might be a savings
you could be right, provided that you are able to deal with any issues, even
such things as a lack of an appropriate driver, all by yourself.
FWIW.

Subject: [RT] off topic: Lindows OS
Anyone have any feedback/experience with Lindows OS?
Compatibility? Is it stable? Tiger Direct is selling systems with
this already loaded and a lotcheaper than Windows XP
systems.Thanks,Howard
